We'd like to begin providing "Related Articles" links with stories online because it adds to readers' background information on a topic of interest, offers an extra service, builds page views and translates into additional revenue.
Thankfully, it's pretty easy to do.
If you open an article in Saxotech, click on the "Connections/Statistics tab."
Then under Internal Links, click on the "Change" button.
The pop-up window will display a search field that lets you set parameters such as category (Ex. WDH-Local), interval (Today, last week, last 3 months, etc.) and add a keyword in text, theme, taxonomy, etc.
Then you click on any articles you want to show up with the original, click on "Apply CConnections" and then close the window and then the file. Recache and voila!
I suggest experimenting with it for a while until you become accustomed, then figure out how many articles you can do this with in the evening, depending on how long it takes at first. The morning online crew will be expected to do this more thoroughly, for the time being. I'd like to shoot for at least one related article with every article we post.

Thanks to whomever was adding links last night or early today to the stories posted online.
One thing I discovered is that the "Internal links" step does not apparently work to link photo galleries. There's another way to do that, but it's a bit more complicated. So skip photo galleries and other multimedia for the "Related Articles" for now.
Any other thoughts on this?

I haven't attached a photo gallery this week, but last week it was pretty easy. In the "internal links," change the "story" box on the far right side to "photo gallery" in the dropdown menu. Then click the search button. You'll get a list of photo galleries from the past week. Check the white box at the right for the gallery you want. Click on "apply connections" and close it. Save the story as you normally would.
